Take That

I'm afraid I took a slap round the gills blank this morning. After I had taken the dog out this morning I had managed to convice myself I was on a banker; a mild overcast autumn morning.
Mrs Squire was going to be shoo'ing me out of the house before 9am so I didn't distract her from the job of the day which was procuring Take That tickets. When I left she had two laptops and her iphone on the go, the kitchen looked like mission control.
Very different conditions from last weekend when I arrived at Ellastone though. A bit more water on but more significantly very coloured, I could not see my boots when wading about knee deep. As I was there thought I give the bugs a run but it was to no avail, returning to the car about and hour and a half later with frozen legs. Funny how much colder it feels when the fish aren't biting.
I reached home at about noon to find that the tickets had been secured which has delighted Mrs S, looks like the kids will have to spend another day looking after me on June 5th.

  1. Your fishing expoditions seem to reflect those that my father has. Recently, all your posts have told similar stories to the ones that he has related to me, only a day before. Yesterday he made a short trip to the Ellastone and reported the same conditions and complained about the cold and lack of feeding fish.

  2. You'll not be accompanying Mrs Squire to see Gary and Robbie, then?

  3. No, hopefully I made that clear that I won't be going to relight my fire. Will hardly do my paranoia of crowded places any good, I still shudder when Mrs S recounts the last time they saw Robbie at Roundhay Park I think. 2 hours just to get out the car park, aaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!

  4. Patrick, I sympathise with your dad the cold soons gets to me at this time of year. I really want to fish but my head soon drops if they are not feeding. Neoprene waders make things a little nmore comfortable but the boots went on mine last winter. Ellastone can be such a spirit breaker as well as it either fishes or it doesn't. I've fished it in conditions like yesterday trotting maggots and have still not had a touch.

  5. I seem to remember we were discussing mud a few weeks ago. I went mad and splashed my cash on some Fulling Mull stuff a few weeks ago. I used it at Hartington during the week and have to say I'm impressed.
You'll not get this sort of chat with the Take That crew.
